The Bond Board is a registered charity that exists to reduce homelessness by getting people on low incomes into private rented accommodation. They provide Bond Guarantees for tenancies which take the place of cash deposits and provide security for landlords. Additionally, they offer a range of support services for tenants and landlords designed to make a tenancy more manageable and sustainable for everyone.
The items listed here are those currently needed by The Bond Board. When you purchase a donation through this store, your exact purchased item is sent directly to Bond Board. They can then distribute or use the donated items as required, making a real, tangible difference to someone’s life. It also means that they don’t have to spend money donations on items, and can instead use it for those things only money can buy.
There is no minimum order size, and all items include free delivery.
The Bond Board don’t pay for their donation shop, and Give Today use just £0.50 of the item prices below to cover transaction costs and price fluctuations from suppliers. Give Today don’t profit from the sale of any items on the website.
The Bond Board at work:
REDUCING SOCIAL ISOLATION
Social isolation and loneliness are major themes to emerge from The Bond Board’s ‘Sustainable Livelihoods’ research project with service users. Whilst Covid 19 restrictions make some activities difficult to arrange, they are committed to delivering on the feedback from our service users and finding creative and innovative solutions to enable people to feel more connected and less alone. Bond Board are therefore actively seeking opportunities to support homeless and vulnerable people to build their resilience and reduce social isolation.
The sudden increase in pressure caused by Covid 19, is pushing many to breaking point. There is an increase in demand from existing service users as well as those who are new to the system with issues such as redundancy, debt, relationship breakdown and rent arrears. The Bond Board want to provide early, specialist homeless prevention support to both tenants and landlords to ensure as many people as possible avoid the trauma of homelessness.
INCREASING ACCESS TO THE PRIVATE RENTED SECTOR
With changes to the welfare system and demand outstripping supply, many private Landlords have been put off renting to homeless people on benefits. The Bond Board has successfully developed positive relationships with a large range of Landlords and Letting Agents across Greater Manchester, however, with additional resources we could do more. They are seeking opportunities to provide support, change perceptions and break down the barriers that exist amongst Landlords and Letting agents so that more homeless people on low incomes can find a new place to call home
