Donate exactly what is needed.
Second Chance has been rescuing and re-homing cats and dogs in the Portsmouth area for 20 years. It is important to them that all our animals go to loving safe homes so home checks are an important part of their re-homing process. Second Chance is an animal welfare focused charity and will always try to help an animal in need. No animals are put to sleep unless they have a medical condition that makes that the kindest route for them.
The items listed here are those currently needed by Second Chance Portsmouth Cats, and their current furry residents. When you purchase a donation through this store, your exact purchased item is sent directly to Portsmouth. They can then distribute or use the donated items as required, making a real, tangible difference to their residents’ lives. It also means that they don’t have to spend money donations on items, and can instead use it for those things only money can buy such as vet bills.
There is no minimum order size, and all items include free delivery.
Second Chance don’t pay for this donation shop, and Give Today use just £0.50 of the item prices below to cover transaction costs and price fluctuations from suppliers. Give Today don’t profit from the sale of any items on the website.
Second Chance Portsmouth Cats at work:
Second Chance has been rescuing and re-homing cats and dogs in the Portsmouth area for 20 years. Second Chance is an animal welfare focused charity and will always try to help an animal in need. No animals are put to sleep unless they have a medical condition that makes that the kindest route for them. They believe that neutering and micro-chipping are essential and much of their funds go on these procedures, along with flea treatments and wormers. Second Chance has spent the last 20 years taking in and coordinating the re-homing of many lost and unwanted animals, re-uniting lost animals with their owners and working to educate people about animal welfare. You can help them continue this great work by buying them the items they request, freeing up funds to help support, and neuter even more furry friends.
It has always been the policy at Portsmouth Cats are neutered and unless they are too young. This will already have been done before they leave for their new home.
Every year Portsmouth Cats spend a considerable amount of their funds on neutering the cats in their care. Second Chance Animal Rescue and many other rescues do the same but it is never enough. Unfortunately there are far too many people all over the country irresponsibly and prolifically breeding cats for quick profit. They are heedless and indifferent to the misery they are inflicting, barely giving a thought to the terrible welfare issues they are creating nor do they consider the long term health problems that are being caused to the queen, the kittens or to future generations.
It has been a legal requirement to have your dog microchipped since 2016 – this should apply to all cats as well! It is an important part of modern pet care and is something wholeheartedly encouraged to all cat owners to have done especially as it is an inexpensive and simple procedure to carry out.
Every cat re-homed is micro-chipped before they leave for their new home. It is important for owners to understand that it is their responsibility to ensure the chip is registered to them and to keep it up to date whenever their details change.
